HyCoSy to get clomid?
Okay so I’m not a doctor, but I know what my fertility issues are. I have regular periods unless I travel. I live in Australia, I’m from the USA, my husband’s family is from Greece, and his two sons live in the U.K. with their mother....so we travel a lot. We do 3-4 international trips a year to visit family (including my stage 4 terminal mother). My husband is 49 I’m 28 but his seamen analysis came back similar to that of a 30 year old and I’d had a previous ultrasound about 8 years ago that showed everything 100% normal. We got pregnant once on accident just before we were married (and living abroad in the U.K. awaiting a visa that was eventually denied) and decided to terminate.
Our fertility doctor demanded a HyCoSy before she’d consider anyyyyyy treatment options. I know that many GP’s prescribe clomid without a HyCoSy. It’s a very non-invasive treatment with limited side effects (as far as fertility treatments go). I had my HyCoSy yesterday and it was PURE AGONY. I yelled, cried, then passed out. And all of that just to tell me what I already knew: everything was normal.
Do you think my fertility doctor only referred me for financial reasons? Australian Medicare does not cover this test, it cost us $600.
Idk, I get kind of why she had me do the exam. However, knowing how painful it is, and the cost incurred, and my medical history, do you think our fertility doctor only referred me for financial gain? I’m feeling very upset and taken advantage of right now....
