The miserable woes of daycare

JD • Proud mama 💙🌻

So yesterday, once I got home from picking my son up from day care, I noticed my son was very hot to the touch. Like weirdly, concerning hot. His whole body was just on fire. He took longer to drink his bottle, which is weird for my kid. I took his temp and it was 102.4. Really shocked considering my daycare will send home babies with a temp at 100. So I gave him Tylenol, and rechecked again 15 min later- I know the Tylenol wouldn’t work that fast, but I wanted to check again. It was at 103. So I decided to take him in since it was rising pretty fast. My son isn’t known to have fevers for teething, but I know that could have been the reason. So they take his temp again, 45 min from last check, and it was 103.3. I got a little worried. After the dr did the check up.... low and behold...

Herpangina- a “cousin” to hand foot mouth disease. 😩

Dr said it’s extremely painful, causes sores/ blisters in the back of the throat/ roof of mouth, causes fevers, and could cause dehydration from Baby not wanting to eat/ drink because it hurts.

My poor little dude just can never catch a break from daycare. ☹️.

So we’re alternating Tylenol and Motrin, trying to keep hydrated and letting it run its course. Annnnnd soaking in all of the extra snuggles.

Here’s a picture from yesterday once we got home from daycare, a little hard to tell thru picture, but he was really red and sweaty.

And here’s today. Here’s really handling it like a champ! Tough little boy!! Still smiling.
