Do you think I’d have to have another c section?

When our son is 8 months old we want to start trying for another baby. Baby #2. With my son I had to have a vertical incision at the top of my uterus above my belly button. It was a planned c section at 37+1 weeks. I’d really like to have a vaginal birth. I got pregnant the first month trying for my son. I’m betting it will take about 4-6 months this time around. Maybe. I’m just guessing. But if I’m luck and get pregnant 12-14 months postpartum do you think I will have to have another c section? I know it’s up to my doctor but I’d like to know what you ladies think.

From what I have read if you have had a classical c sections (vertical incision) you wouldn’t be able to have a VBAC. That is something you would have to talk to your doctor about.

I’m not an expert, but the high c-section might make a vbac risky.  You would need to check with your ob.  I know my ob is very anti vbac in general so I probably will change obs if I get pregnant again.  Currently have a 15 month old with a bikini line incision.

According to mayoclinic.org “You're not a candidate for VBAC if you have had a prior high vertical (classical) uterine incision” also even with a regular c-section most doctors would want more time to pass between pregnancies to consider VBAC.

Yes. If you have had a vertical aka "classic" incision you are not a candidate for a VBAC, regardless of how long it has been since your first surgery.

Definitely talk to your doctor about that one.  Why did they do the high cut?  That’s normally saved for emergencies and not planned sections.  Was your placenta in the way?

It depends on your doctor I think. I got pregnant when my first was 8 months and I had a c-section with her. I didn’t even think about a VBAC so I never asked about it. 
I have a c-section planned this December.

Most likely you will not be able to VBAC. Due to having a vertical incision you are at higher risk of a uterine rupture and I wouldn’t risk it. I doubt you will find a doctor that will let you VBAC TBH

Check with your Dr, but I'm pretty sure they only support trying for a vbac if it's been at least 18 months between pregnancies, otherwise you're at a higher risk for uterine rupture during labor.

Most doctors won’t even consider it unless 2 or more years have passed between pregnancies and some doctors are completely against it because of the risks.
