Problems with OB provider?

Question

I went in for my first appointment and the nurse said that they won't be able to do anything if something happens in the first trimester because it would be too early for the embryo to be viable. Which I totally understand. 
However, normally they say that if you're cramping/spotting or something abnormal comes up, you should go to the ER or get checked out, even if it is first trimester. My OB office says that there's no reason to go to the ER because they won't do anything and can't stop it if something happens.
What are your guys' experience with this?

Personally after being someone who has gone to the Er for a miscarriage I wouldn’t do it again unless you’re having super hea t bleeding. they have poor bedside manners in my opinion when it comes to that, plus they don’t show you anything on the ultrasound if you have one.

I had spotting and cramping at 11 weeks and called the advice nurse line and she got me in for an OB appointment the very next day! They confirmed I was going to miscarry and that I was having a missed miscarriage my baby stopped growing at 8 weeks. I started to pass naturally and they told me to go to the ER! The ER doctor was kind of mean unfortunately. But they did a d&c for me there. If you don’t like your OB provider pick another. I did it this time around. My rainbow deserves nothing but the best. I switched obs this time around. I love my new ob and the nurses.  I'm not sure about ER visits. I've heard different stories on here but you should feel secure in your care and advice.

If you aren’t comfortable with your provider, I’d look for a new one. This is a long, important journey and you should be able to feel secure in your care. There are good OBs out there. 
There would be situations - like heavy bleeding or ectopic pregnancy - that you should get checked out in the first trimester, even though the baby wouldn’t be able to be saved.

I have to go to the ER if I have bleeding with a pregnancy because I am O- and have to have the Rhogam shot do I don’t reject the baby or the next pregnancy. Wouldn’t matter if my husband was also O- but he is O+

If you’re spotting and are worried, I’d say go to your OB if you can manage to get an appointment there. 
If the blood is red, that you’re cramping and/or that the bleeding is heavy, then go to the ER. 
I only went to the ER when the spotting turned red and it was too late that day to see a regular OB, so they told me to go to the ER. I went back the day after because the bleeding was getting really heavy. I was filling a gigantic night pad with blood in less than 20 minutes at that point. 
For future reference, they consider the bleeding to be heavy as from 1 night pad filled in 1 hour, at least that’s what I was told afterwards.

I mean I understand what she’s saying but it seems harsh or unnecessary. When I had my miscarriage my midwife advised me to go to the hospital. I passed everything naturally, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. If you can get a new doctor if you don’t feel comfortable that would be nice. Some things don’t need be said
