Going OFF the pill
I’ve been on levlen ED which is the combined pill for 3 years now, since I was 16. I got my period quite late so didn’t have many natural periods before I went on the pill, and wanted to see how I am off the pill. Plus, more and more research made me want to come off it. My boyfriend has always been keen for me to not be using hormonal birth control too and has been so supportive when hes the one who now has to use condoms!
Don’t get me wrong, I found the pill to be awesome and never gave me side effects (that I’m aware of), and I know some people use the pill to control really painful periods and acne. I just decided it wasn’t for me anymore!
My research meant I was scared of what was gonna hit my body going off it, as lots of women have had awful symptoms since coming off it.
To be honest I have loved it, it feels great not to be taking a pill every day and I’m actually weirdly less scared or my risk of pregnancy since using a physical barrier as opposed to hormonal contraception. My skin is a bit worse than normal (could be due to other things) and I can’t track my period yet but 1 month in and I’m really enjoying this new feeling in my body.
Thought this could be a good place for others to share their experience of changing up their birth control and how things went, so others making changes can gain more personable info!
