Anyone else not offered paid maternity leave at there job?

I'm allowed 6 weeks unpaid but nothing is offered paid. Like I wasn't already freaking out from a extremely unexpected pregnancy...(had a iud in place) now I'm told I'm not getting anything unless I use my vacation  time!

I work for the federal government, and even I don’t get paid maternity leave. I have to use a combination of my vacation time, sick leave, and unpaid FMLA leave.

Most jobs don’t offer it since they don’t federally have to. You can get fmla after a year of solid employment after clocking in like 1250 hours

I live in nz and am so glad we get paid maternity leave 22 weeks at 80% of my pay

That seriously is awful! In Alberta we can take up to 1.5 years paid leave, it's only about 50% of your earnings but it's better than nothing to be off work to raise your babe.

I’m a teacher and don’t get any of it paid. I have to use maternity leave (up to a year with a secure position next year) and personal leave if i want any of that time paid🙃

I work healthcare and don’t get a paid leave. I got short term disability before we got pregnant so I get 60% after 6 weeks?? I think until then I’ll use PDOs or just not get paid. It’s not a big deal to me.

I get 6 weeks unpaid.  I applied for short term disability insurance when I started ttc.  However, I got pregnant the same cycle it got approved so my “conception” date on their end was before my approval date and I can’t use it for this pregnancy.  It took 3 cycles to get pregnant so I think they purposely make the approval process incredibly slow 🙄

Never got paid leave, either. I have a master's degree and worked there over 10 years.

This is why I got Aflac before ttc.  I always thought FMLA was paid leave but turns out it’s just a “here we’ll hold your job for x amount of weeks.”  I assume you live in America, our country is the WORST for maternity leave and forget about paternal leave.
