Is it okay to tell your significant other that they can’t hang out with someone?

For example, my boyfriend and I use to hang out with this other couple ALL the time but idk what his deal is now. He doesn’t want to hang out with them anymore. Me on the other hand I love hanging out with the girlfriend and don’t want to just drop that friendship. But he says I can’t hang out with her.. I just feel like he‘s becoming controlling and idk if this is a controlling tendency...

No! He isn’t your parent. He cannot tell you who you can and cannot hang out with. You’re an adult, you make your own decisions. If he cannot respect that, then he isn’t relationship material.

I don’t think it’s ok to just straight out tell them to stop because YOU don’t like the other person / people. I do think it is ok if you, for example, had problems or drama with a certain person / people and it really bothers you if your significant other is hanging out with them. I think it’s important you communicate with your significant other and ask them to tell you why they don’t want you hanging out with someone specific, and the other way around if you don’t want them hanging out with someone. I think that if your significant other KNOWS you’ve had a bad past with someone they would probably have enough decency and common sense to stay away from them aswell. The way my boyfriend and I are is if one of us has a problem with someone then we both have a problem with them. I know that sounds kind of petty and ridiculous but at the end of the day we have each other’s backs. I hope this helps you❤️
