2nd baby shower???

Hey ladies, basically what I'm wondering is should I have a shower for my second baby? I've heard you shouldn't and I've also heard do what you want, what's your opinions?

Back in the day you had one baby shower. You kept the items for any babies after that. I do like to follow that tradition as I feel things should be kept if you plan to have other kids. That being said, I do also feel each baby should be celebrated. That’s why I do like the idea these days of a sprinkle or a BaByQue. More so a gathering with family and friend to celebrate the new addition with no expectations of gifts but you know some people will bring stuff. This is my second. I have a boy already but now we’re having a girl. My sister is going to throw a little sprinkle for me but I told her I do not want anything crazy big since I’ve already had a shower with my first. We don’t need much because we kept everything from our son. However some new pacifiers and teethers, along with bibs and crib sheets would be nice. So we made a small registry for anyone who feels they want to purchase something.

I’ve always heard you only have one. But now a days, things change so much. With us, it’s my second (10 years in between) and his first. We decided to go ahead and have one. Baby’s are so expensive and need lots, most people love getting to help out with a new baby.

I think you should do whatever you and your family would like! Some families throw a huge one for every child and I think it is great. But generally and for myself, I had a big first baby shower, and any baby after my first a sprinkle or smaller scaled lunch or get together to celebrate baby with smaller gift items (like just the small essentials that cant always be reused from the last baby or have worn out, like burp cloths, bibs, bottles, clothes esp if a different gender, diapers etc) would be appreciated and lovely and I do think every baby should be celebrated even if on a small scale! I do think a second shower is generally accepted if it is a different gender or large age gap as stated above too.

Yes, I see no reason why not to. People don’t have to bring presents if they don’t want to, but every baby is worth celebrating

Between my first and second there’s a 9 year gap, so we did. But now he’s only 17months and I’m 6 months pregnant so we aren’t. I still have all his stuff and it’s another boy.
