How long after your dog passed did you feel ok again?

My sweet dog just passed away. I am devastated to say the least. I am full of pain and full of tears. 
Any words of advice/ encouragement would be great. 
How long till it gets better ?

We lost our sweet boy to an aggressive bone cancer in March and while I'm not crying daily about it anymore, my heart still misses him quite a bit. It's so hard to lose them, they're members of the family.

Do some reading about grief, because there is no set time or expected course.  We are total dog lovers and had 5 dogs for the longest time (I never expected we’d have all 5 for so long!).  Then they started dropping like flies and we have lost 4 in the last 5 years (mainly to cancer of one kind or another).  It doesn’t get easier to lose one, but it does get different.  For me, grief comes in waves and I do okay as long as I’m busy or distracted.  But then I will come across a leash or a bowl and be reminded all over again of what’s missing.  One of my favorite books is The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion.  Even though it’s about losing her husband, what she says about grief really rings true with me.  Like she has a hard time giving away his clothes, especially his shoes, because as illogical as it is, in the back of her mind, she knows he will need shoes when he comes back.  My 3 year old says this about our most recent loss all the time ‘but when Darla comes back...’ and it undoes me every time.  I find that volunteering at a shelter or being willing to let another dog into your life can really help.  Time definitely makes it better, but it doesn’t take it away.

Im sorry for your loss. I know how painful this is. There's no specific amount of time. Just know as time goes on you will be able to remember the good times (w/o the pain as much) little by little. They will ALWAYS have a special place in your heart🧡.
