How well is your LO talking?

Hi mamas! My girl will be 2 years old on the 14th 😭. I feel like her speech is behind and its causing her to be so frustrated.
Are your little talking a lot? A little? Still babbling? 2 and 3 word sentences? Tell me everything!

My son will be 2 on September 12th. He says around 50 words and will use some 2 to 3 word phrases. I am a special needs preschool teacher so I'm always making him repeat me. Not all of his words are understood by people who don't see him all the time but he will pair the word with a gesture and most can figure it out after that. 
Kids develop at their own pace. Some develop motor skills first and others develop language first. If you are concerned definitely talk with your pediatrician at the 2 year appointment and they might reccomend early intervention services. 
The best way to increase speech is reading books (pointing out things on each page, or asking your child 5o find something on a page), songs, talking to them about what you are doing or what they are doing and playing with them.

My son will be 2 on the 12th. He’s in speech therapy because he only has two words (mom and bubble). He’s been going for about 6-7 weeks now. He’s using sign language more bc of it, but that’s the only progress so far. He is suspected of having autism bc he also has repetitive behaviors and non functional play (sometimes). 
 
He does babble a lot though. He “sings” along to some songs too.
I’m not going to lie, I’m worried about him. But we are doing everything we can to help him right now. I’m just praying for a breakthrough.

We have been to a status check up, and the expected minimum was "uses more than ten words" - if less, it's an issue to be checked out. 
Well I doubt that's reasonable, all the two years old I know are way ahead, but that's it. 
Mine talks a lot, her speech is reasonably clear, rarely babbles and those are mostly for singing (she fills all the lines she can't remember with the cutest babbling) - the only issue is that we're bilingual and she mostly responds in the "primary" (the one she hears from more people) language to questions and prompts spoken to her in both languages.

My daughter says a lot of words ! I credit it to reading to her a lot ! She recognizes all her capital letters & 1-10. But every child is so different so don’t be discouraged. My daughter didn’t crawl until she was 10-11 months old and I’m pretty sure she couldn’t even stand on her own by her first birthday. She sat up on her own pretty late too. They all get there eventually and that’s what matters :)

We got my son in a program here in CT called Birth-2-3 and it's been a big help. He wasnt talking at all before they came in to help and he was getting super frustrated. Now has a handful of words and even does some sign language.

My daughter talked non top at 2 she could say sentences and everything. My son on the other hand will not hardly say a word. He has said a few more than 10 words but he will only say one for a couple days then not talk for awhile then randomly learn a new word and never say the others again. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Her language has really exploded in the last 3 weeks. She’s talking in 3-4 word sentences and seems to have new words every day! But like I said it’s really changed a lot in the past couple weeks!

My daughter talks CONSTANTLY. Mostly 2-or-3 word sentences, some longer ones too (“I go car with Daddy?” “I catch the ball!” “Time for lunch!” Etc). My husband was an extremely verbal child, while I was pretty quiet.  
My older brother didn’t say a single word until he was about two and a half. He was talking in full sentences pretty much as soon as he started talking. 
If your pediatrician is happy with your child’s progress, there’s probably not anything to worry about. 💕

Full disclaimer: I’m a pediatric SLP, so I monitor this more than most. My guy is saying 2-3 word sentences independently, and jargoning longer stories. He tries to repeat sentences up to 5 words. He still gets frustrated when he can’t get his message across, I think that’s the age as he learns about his agenda vs. others’. 
50 words and starting to use 2 words together is the developmental expectation for 2 years. If you’re way off from there, I’d advise calling birth -3 services in your area. Some kids are late talkers, but some kids who aren’t talking go on to have a language disorder and the earlier they receive intervention, the better the outcomes.
