Twins?

Question

Had my first prenatal visit today at 8.5 weeks and my on felt my lower stomach and says I’m measuring two weeks ahead. I asked if it could be twins and she says there is a possibility. I’ve been having so much signs that I’m having twins I just want to know already. 
First and only ultrasound isn’t until 20 weeks 😭

Why aren’t they doing a first trimester ultrasound to verify viability of the fetus? And is this your first pregnancy? The uterus can be larger if you’ve already had a baby. I wouldn’t go by “feel” as to whether you’re having multiples, but I do think that ultrasounds before 20 weeks are important to establish viability and proper placement within the uterus..... let alone whether it’s a singleton or multiples
