Perineal massage?

Question

How many of you are doing this or have tried it?
I've tried it about 3 or 4 times using different techniques and I find it sooo uncomfortable and sore?! I'm quite swollen down below so it's all really difficult to do. Also finding it hard to reach there. Anyone else find it so sore to do? If I find this sore, I can't imagine what it feels like pushing out a baby!!

I learnt in my classes to get a pool noodle and sit on it and Rock, it does the same thing without having you touch anything

I could not reach my perineum so I bought the EpiNo and it is great. Its a bit pricey but there are cheaper alternatives that make it alot easier to stretch your perineum. So relieved I got it!

Don’t over think it I am on baby number four my biggest baby didn’t tear me at all and hurt the least makes no sense my smaller baby torn me internally and externally bcz he decided he was coming out with his thumb in his mouth your body is going to do what it wants and you will be fine I don’t find it hard to push them out I had it all natural with my first the pain instantly stopped after my placenta came out I was just sore and than my second the epidural had been turned off for 2hrs prior to pushing and I sneezed her out and had no pain so you got this

Just the thought of stretching/massaging my perineum makes me cringe. I did EPO with my last to help soften my cervix, and it’s supposed to help with tearing as well, and it did not. I had a 2nd degree tear just like my first. I’m a firm believer that your body is going to do what it’s going to do regardless of intervention.

Did it with my third pregnancy almost the whole pregnancy and didn't even get a tiny tear. My baby was 9 lbs. I just did it every morning in the shower with coconut oil. It should not hurt.
This pregnancy I just started so it probably is too late to do any good, but I'm hopeful.

And the pool noodle sounds good. I wonder if I could do the same on a birthing ball?? :)
