Fire Mama

Bettie

Hello fellow Mamas. I am a firefighter and was attending the fire academy with a graduation date of October 30th 2019. My baby is due April 21st and I found out I am pregnant about halfway through the program. I have lost a couple babies to miscarriage before so I made the very difficult but right decision to leave the academy and start over in a year or two. My instructors and my Chief were all in agreement that I made the right call. Now it has been brought to my attention that someone on my department (a female that has no children and has never been through the fire academy) has been gossiping about me and saying that being pregnant is no reason to quit the academy. The stress alone is enough to cause miscarriage, never mind the exposure to extreme heat, strenuous physical activity, exposure to hazardous materials, and generally dangerous situations. She said I am a waste of department money and resources. I'm sorry to post this big and probably unrelatable rant but I need some validation and/or emotional support. >:( Thank you for reading.
