Infected umbilical stump??

My little guy is 1 weeks old today and I noticed his umbilical stump looks odd. The nurses at the hospital that talked to us before we left told us not to touch it or mess with it or do anything to it, just let it fall off. Well I was looking at it, and I just dont feel right about the way it looks. It's making me nervous. I honestly wish I had noticed it sooner. Does it look infected??

I have 4 children. With my first three the hospital did to put alcohol around the base of it once or twice a day. This time 4th child, they told me not to. I went bring baby girl for her one week appt and Dr says yes! Use rubbing alcohol! So I did, hers came off on day 9.

Totally normal, the most i did was cold boiled water just on the oozing bits but try and leave it. Its not nice but will eventually fall off

My son is 13 days old and his cord looks the exact same. The stump is completely dry on the outside and one of the sides will lift up as if it is close to falling off, however, underneath looks oozy and nasty. 
We have another appt in two days with the pediatrician but I was told not to worry about what it looks like underneath as long as the skin around the cord is not red, inflamed, tender for baby, or oozing puss out from under the cord then it is fine.

Make sure u keep rubbing alcohol around it once a day

Looks like how my baby's did. Hers fell off around 2 weeks. My dr said it'll ooze a little until it is fully healed (around 4 weeks). I would call your dr or the nurse line locally to confirm though.
