Checking dilation, labour starts?

Silly question maybe
Just wondering as tomorrow i have an appointment with my midwife, I am gonna ask to check dilation, can this start labour as she is going under there? I am 38 weeks and 2 days.

They've been checking me for weeks and nothing has started. Everyone is different though.

It shouldn’t but there is always a possibility that it might just kickstart everything if your body is on the verge of labor

Not usally. But being 38 weeks im sure she will ask if you want your membranes swept!!! My appointment is tomorrow and ill be 38 weeks. Ill also be saying yes to the membrane sweep (:
