Maxwell is our more “typical” baby name but Dad likes Maximo because he’s a huge fan of European soccer players, and a few of his soccer friends have also named their children after soccer players.

I’m in the camp where Maxwell feels too plain, but Maximo feels like it has to grow on me. But our family is Hispanic and all love soccer, and our child will play soccer, so I’m not worried about pronunciation problems.

Regardless, we will mostly call the little one Max growing up. Max is just too simple for a whole name, but it’s such a cute nickname.
