Short term disability??

So my husband and I are ttc and I asked my work what I should do to prepare and they told me to get short term disability. So I did but they said I cant already be pregnant because that is considered a pre existing condition. It kicks in october 1st and my husband and I were literally trying this week because I'm fertile and now I cant because if we get pregnant then it would be a pre existing condition!! How do they prove I was pregnant before the policy starts Oct 1???

In Canada,  you can't use STD for that! But not sure how policies work in the US. Here, a doc needs to give you a medical reason why you cant be at work. TTC wouldn't be a valid reason, at least not from what I know. STRESS is, but not TTC directly.

Yes, this is true. I signed up for Aflac and the policy also works like that. I believe for them you need to have the policy for at least 10 months before your actual due date.

What are you getting short term disability for exactly?

Now in Texas, at least all the places I've worked at, the short term disability is company paid, and you get 66% of your salary paid for 6 weeks. And pregnancy is included that's what I used for my maternity leave.

By your due date. If you are fertile now it means your lmp was two weeks ago so if you got pregnant by October 1 you would 5-7 weeks along already
