Losing pieces of mucus plug mean your dilating/effacing?

Does losing pieces of your mucus plug mean you’re dilating or effacing or does it just happen sometimes no reason? I was 2cm dilated 75% and had lost pieces of plug before that and now losing more and wondering if I could be progressing further! Lots of inconsistent contractions pressure and pain so hopefully happening soon

You can lose and regenerate your plug numerous times before labor.

Nope. It doesn't mean anything. With my first I lost a big chunk at 24 weeks wasn't dilated at all

People told me you can lose your mucus plug and regenerate it. I lost my mucus plug at 31 weeks pregnant and went into labor at 32 weeks with my water breaking.... I think it is just your body prepping and getting ready for the big show/labor
