Pregnancy and kitties?

I’ve been told to absolutely not change my cats litter box. So I haven’t been, my husband has. But he’s not doing it enough no matter how many times I remind him 🤦‍♀️. And he’s not sweeping up the excess around it nearly enough and it’s driving me nuts!! Can I just like, tie and scarf around my nose and mouth to ventilate it? Or is it still a big no-no? I’m just a neat freak and my husband is not, I’d rather just do it myself than keep bugging him to do it for him to say “okay, I’ll do it in a minute.” and he ends up forgetting and doesn’t do it until it’s full 😤.
