Question About Dr.’s Appt

So, long story short, tomorrow I have a doctors appointment at a new clinic with a new doctor to discuss birth control. I’m very excited since I haven’t been to the doctor since 8th grade (freshman in college now) due to the lack of health insurance.

However, I received my health insurance card in the mail and my dad told me to put it in my wallet....which I lost. Had to order new everything. Including my health insurance card.

Now, when I go, since i really don’t want to reschedule since it’s been so long and I also have some other things i want checked out, I’ve read that the people who check you in can look up your SSN to check your insurance. Is that true? What are my options until my new card comes in the mail?
