How do you feel about the depo shot?

It is my first time ever on birth control and I chose the depo shot because it just seemed better. Just want to know some of your thoughts on it ladies. Thank you!

I bled for 3 months straight, had terribly dry sex, and really bad acne. It sucked.

Love being on it. Very light period. Very little weight gain (literally like 5 pounds) no constant bleeding no weird pains. All I’ve had is headaches here and there.

Put me in a really bad mood and I couldn’t get wet. My period was normal but i did have a lot of irregular spotting so I had to wear liner most of the time. I just tried one shot though I didn’t wanna try a second shot.

I have the arm implant. No periods, no side effects. I don’t need to go to the doctor’s or remember anything.

I can’t recommend it at all, sorry. I had it july 2017, The only good thing for me was it stopped my periods. 
By the middle of August I noticed I was always feeling hungry so without realising Id gained some weight, i joined weight watchers with a friend but still struggled to lose, i was also constantly tired and I could fall asleep anywhere (not like me at all, my mum thought i was sick) it made me irritable and snappy, i totally lost my sex drive, my skin was oily and id break out, i had extreme random mood swings, I went to the doctors and I got diagnosed with depression in September 2017 and since my anxiety had gone through the roof i ended up on antidepressants and I was referred onto a waiting list for therapy. I only had 2 shots and id had enough. My 3rd was due the week before Christmas, I missed the appointment due to heavy traffic in town making me very late. I figured it wouldn’t be too bad. 
A couple of days after i missed the 3rd shot my period started (early on Christmas Day), it was really heavy like a crime scene, I got bad cramps every other day and it went on for 3 weeks and then it stopped I had nothing til end of April 2018. After that my periods were extremely irregular and heavy. My moods and sex drive ect went back to normal within a month of stopping the shot but it took a while to lose the weight i gained. In September they gave me the mini pill to try to regulate my periods again. Im now on the nexplanon implant, ive had no issues so far. The doctor said the depo is a higher concentration of the same hormone as the nexplanon implant and it has to wear off and it can take up to 18months for the shot to fully get out your system. If id have known that I wouldn’t have bothered. 
A couple of my friends have tried it and both of them gained weight really quickly (one went from a size 8 to a size 12 in 2 months, she got even bigger than that and she works in a gym)
