Can you start pumping right away?

Can you start pumping right after baby is born? We are planning to bottle feed as I have to go back to work but am planning on pumping instead of formula if all goes to plan.
I read online that you should only start pumping after 3 weeks post partum? Or can I pump right away?

My baby had a lot of trouble patching so I ended up exclusively pumping , but I started in the 2nd day in hospital per the lactation consultants recommendation, which worked out great and I had a great supply! If you aren’t nursing at all I definitely would start pumping otherwise I’d be worried if you aren’t pumping or nursing for 3 weeks that if would effect your milk production

I had my babe trying to latch to help my milk come in a pumped in between! Exclusively pumped for 7 months and have enough in the freezer to get him to a year!

Wait 3 weeks to pump. You won't be able to get much with a pump. I tried pumping right away and all I got was a few drops of colostrum. Baby can establish milk supply better than a breast pump.
