Sleep training... No cry?

Anyone ever done a no-cry sleep training for their baby?

What would that even consist of?!

I did it but it took a long time and a lot of patience. I took away every sleep crutch my LO had one by one slowly until he didn't have it anymore. The first week I stopped rocking him, this applied to naps as well as bed time. I would just hold him in my arms until he fell asleep. Once he got used to that after a few days I would just hold him until he just fell asleep and put him down in his crib and would patted his back. After a few days of that I would just put him in his crib and pat his back. After he got used to that I would put him in his crib and just stand there so he could see me until he fell asleep. Once he got used to that I put him in his crib and left the room and he never cried and barley even fussed because he knew I would always be close by if I wasn't touching him. He was almost 6 months when I started that and it took about a month to take every sleep crutch away. But he has never gone back needing me for sleep. Even when he went through teething or asleep regression he would wake up for a few minutes and put himself back to sleep. It worked wonderfully for us.

Crying is the way my daughter self-soothes. 🤷🏼‍♀️ If we are constantly patting their backs and shushing, is it really sleep training?

I just started last night and have had shockingly good results!!!  I can’t believe it. We did normal bed routine with milk and cuddles, but instead of rocking her to full sleep, as soon as her eyes closed I stood up and put her in her crib.  She was startled out of her grogginess, but I patted her bum and kissed her cheek and left the room.  She played and kinda fussed for 30mins last night and 19 mins tonight, but she put herself to sleep with ZERO crying!  My plan was to comfort her Ferber style, but crying never happened so I stayed out.
