He’s not ready.. small rant

Apparently my boyfriend of 3 years confessed to his friend that he’s not ready for marriage, but wants to have another baby soon (we have a 6month) old. I just don’t understand how he doesn’t see a child as more of commitment than marriage. I’ve already discussed that I would like to be at least engaged before we have another, but I guess we’re just not on the same page... I’m just kind of bummed because I was looking forward to a surprise proposal during our vacation in November.
