When it’s time.. need advice

Okay so when it’s time for me to go into labor and have my baby, how do I go about with explaining to my husbands mom that I don’t want her in the room? Or even just talking to husband about it? I love her, but I’m not comfortable with having her in the room. I just want my husband and my mom. Am I being selfish or is it normal to feel this way?

You in NO way are obligated to have ANYONE you don’t want to in the room. Honestly, just don’t even tell her you’re in labor when it happens, just have baby, take time to relax, and when YOU YOURSELF are ready for her or any other people, then let them know baby has been born

I didn't want my mil in the room either and I think she was offended... like woman we barely talk you dont need to see my vagina... seriously. I think its totally fine for her not to be in the room. Id make it known asap so she can get over it and not have any disillusions of being there!

It's completely normal. I told my husband I just want myself and I in the labor and delivery room. No one else

Just tell your husband you only want him and your mom in the room. That’s it.  It’s not selfish at all. You can tell the nurses as well and they will make sure no one else comes in.

ehh i think its normal. i was the same way but honestly when it came for the time i didn’t even care who was in there or not. my fiancé held one leg and my mom held the other and his mom stood up by my head but was still able to watch and see her when she first came out. i didn’t mind at all. but i know everyone has different feelings.

It’s totally fine. My husband and I have talked about it. I just explained to him that I’m having my mom, stepmom and him in the room. I told him I’m just really not comfortable with his mom in the room. I’m barely comfortable with my moms in the room but know I want their support. And he agrees and said it was completely up to me no argument.
