Depends how they handle the mother. Mother doesn’t have to be a problem at all. The way he deals with the terrible mother is the make it or break it.

I hate my partners mother and I will be marrying him!! I really hate her. 
I have expressed just enough of my dislike to my partner so he knows not to put me in situations I’m not comfortable with.

My husband’s parents are divorced and I don’t care for his mother or step mother but that never crossed my mind as a reason not to marry

My husbands mom is nuts. But I’d never let that get in the way of me marrying him unless he didn’t know how to set boundaries with her, and it was a constant point of tension in our relationship. 
Thankfully my hubby does set boundaries with her, for his own good!

I’m doing it. Found out yesterday she plans to go to Mardi Gras which means she’ll be out of town when we get married 💃 OHHH HAPPY DAY 💃

I was with my ex bf for 5 years and right from the beginning his mom had issues with me. I was always polite bc that’s how I was raised, but his mom was very judgmental of everything I did! She’d call me names behind my back and would tell me I need to be more “happy” when I come over. She was just very toxic. I always knew she’d be in the picture, she’s his mom. And that was just one of the many reasons it didn’t work. I couldn’t constantly be around toxic people who’d bring me down. It all depends on how you think you can deal.

It's tough. As they say, you do marry a person's family. Is there any way to make peace with this woman? It is worth it to have family support.
