Blackness in piercing?

I’ve had my cartilage pierced for like 4 years. Today I was changing my earrings and noticed that the hole was just black. What’s the cause of this? How do I fix/clean it? I don’t think it’s infected because I feel zero pain around the area. (Also please ignore my dirty nails lol)

definitely from the jewelry. if I wear cheap earrings for a few days, I get that too

Are you sure you didn't get a baby tattoo with the ink the piercer used to mark the spot to pierce? 🙊 a friend of mine had that happen in her lobe, but this was at a cheap jewelery shop with a piercing gun, not a proper place
