Depends on the age and amount of time. I would not consider it appropriate at a month old. However, people still call their 2 year old a baby. At two, in my opinion, they should be able to sleep in their own bed. I also think at there is a point that a baby should be checked on/calmed, you don't want them to make themselves sick from crying

To me the age of the baby doesn’t matter. It depends on if the baby has all essentials and is ok! If you’ve fed baby and burped baby and he/she has new pamper and everything you can think of and baby won’t stop crying. Let baby cry it out. If the baby is fairly new I’d say about a minute or 2. If the baby is a bit older like 2 I’d say ignore the baby and walk back and forward doing your daily routine. Babies are smart they are testing the limits don’t spoil baby they’ll never let you live it down.

i mean it depends on the circumstances but that’s what my dads did with me and i was very well behaved and not fussy because of it.
