Can men and women just be friends?

I believe they can't just be friends as every relationship I've been in I've been cheated on with a friend of the opposite sex, friends of mine have also been in the same position so no I don't think its possible.

So I guess only your experiences exist? My best friend is a man and we’ve been friends since we were 13. We are only friends and there is no sexual or romantic attraction between us. Do you fall in love with every man you know? Of course not. Not every man and woman have the potential to be a couple. 
And then when you consider different sexualities, it makes even less sense.

Two of my best friends in high school and college were men. They never made a move on me and I never made a move on them. Unfortunately we’ve all lost touch with each other as time went on but one of them sent me the sweetest message about how he always had a crush on me. he did it in such a polite and respectful way. I believe it’s 100% possible to just be friends with the opposite sex.
