What age was your LO potty trained by?

Any tips to potty train a boy? My LO is almost 20 months and he still isn't showing much interest in the potty. He will sit on it a few times a day and if I ask him where the pee goes he will point to the toilet but he won't sit on it for long - 5 minutes if I'm lucky and that's with distractions like singing or reading. He likes to follow me and his dad into the washroom when we need to do our business and will put a piece of toilet paper in the toilet and flush it but he won't tell me when he has to go or when he has a wet diaper or bowel movement. Should I give him some more time or do you think he is ready?
