I’ve been talking to this guy and he lives like 40 mins away from me. He came down to see me last week and we went to a bar and he spent almost $100 he says he doesn’t remember what he paid but I’m sure he’s lying lol . Well we decided to go see a movie tomorrow but he asked me to pay for the tickets and he said he’ll get the snacks . But my mom always  told me If a guy takes me out he should be paying . Idk I’m feeling a little weird about it because of how I was raised but since he paid last time and I do like him so I don’t mind . Is this normal or ok ?

That's totally normal..? Guys don't have to pay for everything. You should be grateful he paid for the 100. You don't need a man to look after you and pay for your needs. You should definitely pay and I'd even offer to pay for the snacks too. Relationships are about balance and equality. One person shouldn't be expected to do more because of their gender. It's definitely an old fashioned belief

The man paying for everything is a leftover tradition from the days when women weren’t allowed to work, have careers and their own money. The fact that he’s already spent a lot of money on your first date shows that’s he’s not trying to freeload. I think it would be really cool of you to offer to pay for some dates. If we want equality between the sexes we have to step into our part too👌

There's really nothing wrong with paying, I THINK like the whole " Men should always pay" is something that was made up because back in the day when  women weren't allowed to work so it was expected for the  man to ALWAYS pay, but now that times have changed it ok to split the check or even treat him once in awhile.

Could be a test.. maybe he’s just trying to see if your the kind of girl who doesn’t mind paying for things sometimes. I personally have never had a guy ask me to pay for anything on a date... but I usually offer anyway just so they know I can be sweet and I can handle the check😜 The fact that he asked is kind of a turn off personally but if you really like him, just give him a chance. He did pay for a lot and like I said, he probably just wanted to see where your head was at when he asked you to pay. If it becomes a habit, I don’t think I would be comfortable in a relationship with him. Called me a spoiled brat if you want to but I’m just used to guys being guys and trying to take care of things. I like to pay sometimes too but I like that my man doesn’t even ask me to.

On the first dates I've been on.. every single guy I dated paid.. I did offer to go 50/50 but none was having any of it.. but after the second date.. I always paid for my own.. if it was their birthday.. i would pay for everything.. it's good for a woman to have independence and i mean no offence to ur mum but dating doesnt work like that now.. many men are put off women that they expect them to pay all the time.. it's not fair or equal.
