How did you explain breastfeeding to your older kids?

My oldest son is turning 5 on Sunday, and my youngest is due on Saturday. I also have a stepdaughter who will be 7 in December. My stepdaughter wasn't breastfed, and neither was her mom's other child. My son was, but it's been so long that I know he doesn't remember. I would like to breastfeed again, and I'm looking for kid friendly ways to explain what mommy is doing. Thanks, guys! ❤️

Id just leave it as “mommy’s breast’s can make milk for baby, so baby is drinking milk” and answer questions as they come. You can also say “some babies drink milk from a bottle and some drink from their mommy”. Most kids just accept a basic true answer. Don’t over complicate it or over explain. I wouldn’t make a huge deal out of showing them or anything either. The more normal you make it the more normal they receive it being.

i just told my five year old step son that moms can make milk for babies and feed them that way. he said “just like animals?! that’s cool!” and that was the end of the conversation ahaha.

I just told my son that mommies make milk for little babies. He asked why, I told him it was healthy for the baby to grow, and he never mentioned it again..

My son thought my daughter was biting me 😂 and said “no biting!!!” (he’s 2) so I just told him she wasn’t biting, she was drinking milk. He watched me pump and it seemed to click for him. But now he asks all the time if he can feed her lol it’s really no big deal.

I have very young stepbrothers and when my daughter was born, they were 5 and 7 and when they saw me nursing the first time at their house they were kinda confused what I was doing. I just told them, very straightforward, my body makes milk for her to drink, that’s how she eats right now. When she gets bigger she can drink milk out of a cup like you guy do. And that was that.
