I think it’s harder to get pregnant by having sex on ovulation day rather than the days leading up to. It really just depends on how fast the sperm can swim to the egg. It’s generally better to have sex on the days leading up to O because there’s a higher chance that the sperm will be there when the egg is released thus higher chances of the egg being fertilized. It can sometimes take a while for sperm to make it to their destination so if you have sex on ovulation day, higher chance of missing the opportunity of fertilization since an egg is only viable for 24 hours.

I also think people think + OPK means ovulation day...when it is sometimes several days after peak LH that you ovulate. This is why according to SMEP plan you have sex on the day of peak, the two following days, skip a day and have sex once more just in case!
