A bittersweet breakup

This summer I worked at an overnight camp and ended up dating this guy who was one of my best friends and biggest supports there. It was a very delicate thing at first because we knew I’d be going away for my gap year a month after camp ended and we initially just called it a hook up mostly to protect our emotions. Now it’s been almost two months and today we had our last date before I leave the country for 8 months in a few days. We got dinner and held hands and goofed off and then went to a trampoline park where we were the only ones there and ended up stealing kisses and hugs when the employees weren’t looking. Our relationship didn’t have time to get past the delicious honeymoon phase where it feels so wonderful to be always close to each other and it’s still always new and exciting, but it also felt like we knew each other for ages (because we were friends for a while before). Eventually we got tired and went to my car in the parking lot and sat there talking and hugging and making out and not wanting to say goodbye. Then we got out of the car and kissed and hugged and kept walking away and going back to each other and then we finally got into our cars to go and I realized my scrunchie had fallen onto the ground while we were saying goodbye. I texted that to him to explain why I was getting out of the car and we made some vsco girl jokes and then as I was getting my scrunchie he opened his door and ran up and kissed me passionately and we hugged for the longest time and some music was playing from his car stereo and we danced kind of ironically and then hugged and kissed again and said goodbye for real and promised to continue to be friends and support each other.
