Good morning ladies! So me and my fiancé have been leasing an apartment for a little over a year now. We got an apartment first to make sure that we can 1. Handle bills and 2. To see if we can live together/handle each other. Both things we were testing turned out to be great and now we’re ready to terminate our lease once it’s up and get a house! My question for you experienced ladies (or men) is, how much money do you recommend we have before we look/apply for a loan? Some people say that out over $40,000 down and I can’t believe it lol we have about 5,000 in our savings right now but our friend keeps saying we need to have ATLEAST 20,000. I’ve never heard a set number, and I also heard first time home buyers can get their down payment waived or very low. Anyways, advice would be great! We have about 3 more months until our lease is up and we need to be in a house.
