Anyone else in a monogamous relationship test positive for HPV?

Did you have any complications? Did it go away on its own like it can after a couple of years? Did it affect you getting pregnant? Only ever having one sexual partner (my husband) I was really taken aback by my recent Pap smear results. This is something I never expected to have to go through.

Yes hpv can lay dormant for years. I’ve had it since I was 15/16 and for me it ended up be a super high strain and I got cervical cancer but for a lot of people it doesn’t cause any issues. It just depends on the kind you have . 
But a male can have it and never know or find out they have it and pass it to their new partner(s). Same with females it’s just more commonly found in females because we have routine testing. I’ve been with my husband since I was 16 and he was 19 and found out I had it when I got pregnant with our oldest daughter at 16. So no telling if I got it from him or my previous bf but either way I have it and we are both aware and don’t blame either person.

I found out I had it when I was 22 (I am now 29). I had the Genital Wart strand, which is how it was discovered. Warts were removed promptly and have not returned. I went for Colposcopy tests in lieu of Pap Smears. I went for about 2 years and then it went away, however after my Pap test it had appeared again. I’ve gone for a colposcopy for the last 4 years and I’m scheduled for my last one in October! Nothing showed on my last one, so this is a follow up, so if nothing comes back, I go back to normal paps. 
We are TTC right now since February. I was pregnant in December (was on birth control) but ended up with an early miscarriage. My gyno said for me that it won’t have any affect on getting pregnant.

My SO has it. I think it’s dormant now. I had the vaccine that’s suppose to “protect” you from cervical cancer or something. Anyways I go for my yearly pap I haven’t gotten it from him. Good luck 💕

My mom got diagnosed with it 2 years after getting involved with her ex husband and they were monogamous. That's one of the things that's so awful about it, one partner can have it a long time without pr before spreading to the other.
