Should I attend the climate walkout?

A friend is hosting a climate walkout this up coming Friday and it’s just before and through one of my classes. I want to be there, but I also have a only in emergencies policy when it comes to absences (so far I have perfect attendance). I will of course write to her over this weekend. I’m very politically active, but I only have a couple demonstrations under my belt.

You’re not gaining anything by doing it. You’re sacrificing. Wanna make a difference? Vote, support campaigns, volunteer in your free time, and literally anything that’s beneficial without the cost of your education.

Well, I went and honestly I don’t regret it. My teacher was fine with it actually. I do other stuff as well, but sometimes you can’t make a point without disruption.

Go to class, get a degree, THEN fight for whatever you believe in. You’re (or your parents or whatever) literally paying for these professors to teach you and you’re not gonna show up to a class? You’d be wasting your own money.

If your attendance policy is emergencies only then your professor isn't going to let it slide for a demonstration. You could attend the part that doesn't interfere with your class, but it doesn't seem worth it to me. There will be other demonstrations, other campaigns, other opportunities to show your support.
