Do you was “down there” with soap? (Read discription)

Question

So I want to test a theory.
 I was with a group of girlfriends the other day, and almost al of them said they have had a UTI at some point. 
I’ve never had one, so I was shocked to hear so many had. 
Thinking about it later, I realized that I always wash with soap in the shower (not like, inside but just that general area)
 I know a lot of people say you shouldn’t do that- but I’m wondering , could the lack of cleaning with soap lead to a UTI, or is it all by chance?

I don’t quite understand the post lol. I don’t wash inside with soap but I definitely wash the outside and around. But I don’t go anywhere near my opening with soap, learned my lesson when I was little and it burnedd with a vengeance.
But I’ve never had a UTI but I know a lot of girls who get them.

I used to be addicted to Mountain Dew. In 4th grade, it was insane. I drank like 3-4 bottles a day! I ended up getting UTI’s from it. Since then I stopped drinking all soda and basically only drink water (I’m in my 30’s now, and just like 3 years ago started to drink coffee)
I know that isn’t part of your question. Lol. But I just wanted to share that. 
But outside of that I do wash with soap in that area and I’ve only had two UTI’s that I can think of.

A uti can have several causes. Baths, sex, dehydration, using scented products that will irritate your body, ect. Everyone is different and some people are just more susceptible than others. I used to get them all the time before seeing a urologist. My sister never gets them though.

I mostly get UTIs when I stay in a wet bathing suit for too long, if I don’t pee soon after sex and if I wear certain underwear. I don’t think using soap has much to do with it (I use a fragrance free soap)

I wash with soap down there, just not in the vicinity of the vaginal opening. But the folds and stuff, yes I definitely wash because I get so RIDICULOUSLY sweaty. I’ve never gotten a UTI from washing until I got pregnant 🤷‍♀️

Every time I don’t pee after sex I get a UTi... but I wash down there with soap and water. Some people are just more prone to UTI than others but either way, definitely SHOULD be washing down there.

I use unscented dove body was on the labia. 
I've had maybe 3 UTIs my whole 34 years of life and I think they were caused by not peeing right after sex 🤷🏻‍♀️
