Does anyone use breastfeeding as birth control?

I am 6 weeks postpartum and have been exclusively breastfeeding as well as using the pullout method until I get my IUD next week. Has anyone used this method with any success? Getting pregnant again wouldn’t be the end of the world... I’m just wondering if anyone has had breastfeeding/pullout work or fail.

Breastfeeding is definitely NOT contraception. You can still ovulate while breastfeeding. Even without a period. MANY woman get pregnant while breastfeeding.

You need to use condoms or something else as a form of birth control. Many women get pregnant while breastfeeding because they think they can’t get pregnant when in fact you can. The same thing goes for the pull out method. Neither of those are a form of birth control

I didn't use it as borthcontrol. My husband and I used condoms. But I didn't get my first PP period till 11 months PP. So in hindsight I could have used it as birth control.
That being said you don't have hindsight. You don't know if you'll get your PP period at 12 months or 12 weeks. And since you don't know you can't depend on it as birth control.
If you and your SO are totally OK either way then sure why not. If either of you prefer to wait to have another baby then use something else as birth control.

Pull out method isn’t a form of birth control but with that being said, my husband has a 100% success rate 🤣

Also, it's different for every woman. I know a mother of 5 who couldn't get pregnant until she stopped nursing. I also know a woman who got pregnant at 6m postpartum and she is still nursing and plans on nursing until the other baby is born. Dont rely in either pullout or breastfeeding....
