IUI Success??

Question

How many people tried IUI before IVF? Or had success with IUI? Why did you pick one over the other? My husband and I are trying to decide if we want to try IUI first or just go straight to IVF.

Unexplained infertility and we had to do 3 IUIs before insurance would pay for IVF. Our second IUI was a success! Currently 25 weeks 💗

We got pregnant with our first properly timed iui. We have no male factor. I have Endometriosis and pcos. So personally I am all for trying iui depending on your diagnosis’s.

We did IUI and I'm 12w now. We had a good prognosis because I had eggs and my lining was good. I just wasn't ovulating because of PCOS. We did several rounds of hormones but no IUI first, just timed intercourse. I think we did 2 of those things and 2 IUI and the second IUI worked.

We had male factor infertility and I tested great across the board and had success with 2 IUI's. My SIL had unexplained infertility and had success with 2 IUI's.
We chose IUI because it was less invasive, we had more control over the process, it was more cost effective and felt right for us.

4 IUIs, the 2nd worked but ended at 5 weeks. Starting round 1 of IVF today.

We did 4 IUIs that all failed before moving to IVF, where we were successful with our first round.
Tough to say what's best for you - if you're young and have no male factor infertility then you could try IUIs, but otherwise I'd go straight to IVF.

We did three rounds of IUI and are now in our two week wait for our first IVF cycle. My insurance required that we try IUI before they would pay for IVF, and it covered it, so we figured it was worth a shot first. Depending on your diagnosis, it’s usually worth a shot, but it’s not worth doing more than three except in certain diagnostic situations. Good luck in whatever you decide!

We did one IUI and our doing another this month because we can’t start IVF until next month. We have male factor issues and the dr thought we would be able to do IUI but then his count for the first IUI washed was only 1 million, so they suggested we jump to IVF. I’m terrified but I know it’s our best chance.

My very first IUI worked last March. It was natural, no trigger, no meds. Unfortunately I miscarried at 15 weeks. I had a fibroid removed last October and then I started trying with IUIs again in January. I tried January, February, March, I had a chemical in April. I tried again in June and all failed. My insurance picked up IVF coverage because of the failed IUIs. I just had my first IVF cycle and I’m currently waiting to find out if it worked. I’m two days past my transfer. I would suggest trying IUI as it does work, but if money is not the issue, IVF has higher chance of success.
