LEGAL ADVICE NEEDED

Hi everyone, a little off topic here but I need some advice from someone who may work as a lawyer/solicitor.

My mother who lived alone passed recently and the whole family is all up in arms and arguing about what happens now.

It's just me and my brother who are her only children. My brother has always said (verbally) he would like to take over her house whenever she may pass, which I was okay with as to be honest I wouldn't want the house anyway.

My mothers will stated everything left was basically 50/50 between my brother and I. Recently we have gotten into an argument between the family, for many reasons but I feel my brother is being extremely unfair! He basically is demanding the house and already treating it as HIS house(!) when legally nothing has been sorted out yet! He has told me any money leftover etc will come to me as he would like the house...which is fine until you realise the value of the house in comparison to the money left over is probably around a 30k difference! I'm not trying to be petty here but surely that cannot be allowed? Especially if the will states a 50/50 share in writing, my brother cannot demand he will now own the house and leave the rest which is a lot less value leftover to me?!

Struggling here as I hate how the family has turned bitter against each other but I am furious it has came to this and feel my brother is being very selfish!

Has anyone got experience in this field or went through a similar scenario?
