What happens if I skip my thyroid medicine?

I take levothyroxine for hypothyroidism and I accidentally forgot to take it this morning. It's supposed to be taken at the same time every day.

My mom goes through this all the time, she also has hypothyroidism. She doesn’t take the pill every day as she only takes it when she feels the need to. Some days without the pill, yeah she’ll get tired but it’s not as bad as before she had to take meds. It all just depends. Missing one day isn’t going to harm you, you’ll just feel more tired and less energetic when taking the meds. Also, when she began using less and just took them every other day, her visits at the doc show her that her levels are well balanced and the doc decreased her dosage (very good news as she once took it every day and doubled for every time she missed and had gotten a bit sick with side affects). One day is fine so long as it's not a regular thing. It's best to wait until your next dose tomorrow morning. It's generally supposed to be taken on an empty stomach after fasting for the night. You might feel some symptoms of lethargy but missing one dose is not going to wreck all of your progress of keeping your hormones leveled
