Is it alright to give an ALMOST 6 month old an oz or 2 of water?

She’s been pretty constipated so I gave her about an oz and a half of water

I wouldn't. It robs baby of necessary nutrition and calories by filling their tummy with water. And because babies are so small it doesn't take much to throw off their sodium levels resulting in water intoxication. For me personally it's not worth the risk. There are other natural remedies for constipation. It's best to ask your pediatrician what they recommend. If they recommend water, I would question them and ask for more information about it.

At 6 months, we were told it was ok to give up to 2 oz of water with "meals" so our kiddo could start practicing drinking out of a sippy cup. 
Our kiddo was always super constipated too & our Dr had us do up to 2 oz of prune juice up to 2 x per day. Definitely ask your pediatrician if your worried, though.

I would give her some juice rather than water for constipation like pear, apple or prune juice. But I work at a Montessori school and our kids start drinking 1-2oz of water out of glass cups at meal times at 6months.

Yes. I let my son have water with meals but I put it in a sippy cup. He hasn’t gotten the hang of it yet so he only drinks about an oz.
