How common is gestational diabetes if you’re considered overweight?

Nervous for my glucose test at my next appt (when I’ll be 28 weeks). I am not sure why but I feel like since I was overweight before pregnancy I’ll fail it.

GD has nothing to do with being overweight. I had it and I was a little overweight, I know people who’ve had it and they were definitely not overweight. It’s about how your body reacts during pregnancy, nothing is going to change wether you have it or not. I hope you don’t, but just know it’s totally manageable for most!

Gestational is caused by an imbalance in hormones. Yes outside factors can increase your chances but you can do everything right and still get it unfortunately

Technically, yes you're statistically at higher risk than someone who is not overweight. But plenty of overweight women don't get it, and plenty of healthy weight women do get it. ....so you just don't know. I'm overweight and had it 2 of my 4 pregnancies.  It can be random sometimes.
