37 wk c section having negative effect on breastfeeding?

I just found out today I will be having a planned c section at 37 wks. I'm really really want to breastfeed ssuccessfully as I wasn't able to with my son 11 yrs ago. Has anyone had any issues with their baby latching at 37 wks? Did you have any issues with milk coming in later?  Any advise or tips or  experiences welcomed!

I had my daughter at 37 weeks and we are ebf with no real issues.... I did start out with nipple shields just because her latch was shallow... But other than that it's gone very well

I had a 37 week csection with my first and nursed till 20 months. The first few weeks were a little slow but my milk came in pretty ok and he latched fine.

I had my twins had 26 weeks via csection and once one of them were actually able to breastfeed which was around 33 weeks she latched fine. My milk came out great. I had a good supply and she absolutely loved breastfeeding.

I had a csection at 37 weeks and we haven’t had ANY issues. My baby was also IUGR so he was super tiny (4lbs) and he has done fine. We are 6 months in and he has no intentions on stopping any time soon lol I would just find out from your hospital what their protocol is for how soon you can hold baby after csection. Some will let you immediately and others make you wait until you go to the recovery room. I didn’t hold him until we went to recovery and like I said we haven’t had any issues.

I had my daughter at 36 weeks and 6 days.  No issues latching or with my milk coming in late.  She was in NICU her first 9 days.  They had me pump and they bottlefed her breastmilk.  Since coming home we were having issues (my fault not her’s) due to the NICU stay so I had a Lactation Consultant come to my house.  Since then things have improved allot.

My baby boy was born at 33 weeks and I struggled with my milk coming in late due to the prematurity, magnesium sulfate I was on, and the c-section. But he was (and still is) in the NICU on oxygen and unable to breastfeed for almost the first two weeks. I’m still having trouble with low supply, but what helped me get to where I am was getting more contact with him once I was able.
I would suggest getting baby to breast as soon as possible and lots of skin to skin. That bond really does make a difference. If for some reason baby can’t nurse right away (within the first hour after birth) start pumping or hand expressing so your body realizes it needs to produce early. And get with a lactation consultant early if you notice any latch problems. Everything will be fine!!
