Baby shower for second baby?

I'm pregnant with my second. I don't know if it's normal or tacky or what to have a baby shower for a second baby. I asked my mom but frankly, she doesn't seem interested in hosting one at all. And I don't think I can throw one for myself, right? I just don't know what to do...anyone have experience with this?

Yeah you usually only have a baby shower for the first. Maybe if the kids are really far apart?  Then it is still usually smaller and called a sprinkle.

I am having a smaller sprinkle just close family and close friends very small but just to celebrate baby and have a girls day!

I personally think a second shower is tacky. A bbq or sprinkle to welcome the baby home is fine, but I wouldnt classify it as a shower. No gift expectations. Just a gathering to meet the baby , in MY opinion

There is nothing wrong with celebrating another baby. But a full on shower is a little much. I personally think the only circumstance where you would is if your kids have a huge age gap. I’ve heard of people doing sprinkles and not asked fur gifts

I have a friend who through one for her self with her second boy. I personal would not throw one for my self, but that’s your choice. My sister and some other family are throwing me one, this is our second kid, but 1st girl.

It really depends I didn’t have one for my first because I was stationed in Germany so away from family but I will with this one and my family
Is usually encouraging about baby showers even if it’s the second or third child I think it’s because we all like to get together and have fun

Since we developed a great group of friends who’re all leaving soon(military) my best friends are throwing me a shower for our second. Everyone is very excited, and the first kinda sucked, so we’re thrilled to do this together to celebrate a new baby as a group

To each their own. We are thinking of doing a big BBQ to celebrate the baby, but no gifts. Maybe a diaper raffle. We aren't finding out gender so we might wait until baby is a month old and do a combo vow renewal for our 10yr anniversary.
