I have no idea what to do. He has always been work obsessed and I knew it since day one, but now that we are getting serious, I had a discussion yesterday with him on how I would rather he is present than bring a lot of money. He just got a new job that pays 180k/year and is absolutely thrilled for the career advance. I was supportive the whole time, while he was applying, when they took forever to answer, when he wasn’t sure if his visa would get transferred, but now that he got it, it’s like this is what our lives are centered around. I am just fearing this life of missed Christmases because he is at work, missed dinner because he is at work. He thinks this is normal life and this is the age to hustle and that I am sweating hypothetical situations. But I feel it’s not hypothetical, it’s based on what he is telling me. I value work-life balance a lot. No money will replace presence and quality time. He says he would be unhappy doing a 9-5 job. Not sure how to find a compromise here. And yes I knew this from the start, but now it’s taking another level, that’s why I am worried what I am getting myself into. Any advice is appreciated.
