Tips for a Tear-Free Bedtime?

My daughter is a little over a year old, and I am trying to wean her, but up till now, she’s usually been nursed to sleep at bedtime (terrible habit, I know, it’s just so much easier!) On occasions when my husband has to put her to bed, he holds her and rocks her, but she fights him and screams the whole way till she’s too exhausted to fight anymore. We figure there has got to be a better way of going about this! We do have a bedtime routine (pajamas, lullabies, bedtime story, rocking, etc.) and we have tried just putting her in her crib afterwards but she just gets hysterical and it’s hard to listen to. Any other suggestions? We have another baby coming in March and I’d love to get my firstborn’s bedtime figured out before the next one arrives! Thanks! 🙏
