My boyfriend and I have been together for 6 years now. We have been together since he was 17 & I 19. Though we are very much in love and happy he still isn’t ready to pop the question. Currently we both are still in school working on getting our degrees. Is it unfair of me to want to be at the very least engaged at this point? His argument is that he doesn’t want us to struggle and because we are a black couple he wants to be able to give me everything I desire and deserve and with that means he doesn’t want to marry me and we’re both still struggling and not completely on our feet just yet. I completely agree with what he is saying it’s just so hard to accept when I see people that I’ve known for years engaged to their partners of 4 or 5 years and we’re going on our 7th. How do I get to a place where I no longer worry about the amount of time and just focus on the memories we’re creating???
