Smoking while pregnant??

I need help! 
I’m not sure if this is the right group to write this on but after smoking for 12 years and finding out I was pregnant 5 days ago I’m really struggling! 
I still can’t believe I’m pregnant I think this is the problem! 
I don’t want to smoke at all but having a really stressful job and the want to grab for a cigarette is too much! 
I don’t know what to do please help! 😩😢

Just chew lots of gum. It's a matter of habit with your mouth and when you're bored. Chewing gum helps to distract you from it. And think about it your few minutes pleasure a day could cause harm to your baby for all of his/her life. Is that worth it?

I quit cold turkey after 3 years I was depressed bad headaches lungs hurt I was having bad mood swings my baby is more important then a cigarette. The withdrawals are are real I barely gotten over them it took a month I’m 9 weeks now and baby has a strong heartbeat at 171

I smoke and smoked before I got pregnant with my son. Withdraws of any kind are super dangerous for your baby during pregnancy so do NOT quit cold turkey. I slowly weaned off smoking when I was pregnant and had fully stopped when I was roughly 3-4 months along. But I also started weaning when I was 5 weeks, after I had found out. My best suggesting is to just try to wean off. I did end up starting up again a few months after having my son and I’m ttc now and hopefully I’ll be able to wean off again once we conceive.

3 of my friends cut back without completely quitting ( doctor okayed this ) and there babies turned out fine. Not something I’d personally ever chance but usually a doctor will tell you not to just straight up quit but I also think that depends how far along you are and how long you’ve been smoking while pregnant ( in your case not long ) . I’d ask at your next visit.

Just keep at it, cut down slowly... you can use nicotine gum but it's just willpower really

I was smoking when I found out I was pregnant, my mum smoked with all 5 kids, my grandma smoked with her 3 so I though eh, I’ll be right....
Got to 7 weeks and the morning sickness kicked in.....
Now I cannot even STAND the smell radiating off my husband after he’s had a smoke 🤣
I haven’t had one in over a week now ❤️

This was me when I found out I was pregnant (smoke for 15yrs) already have 2 children. I had a scare 3wks ago where I thought I miscarried  (baby 3)and i was nerved raked for a whole day thinking I did something wrong, luckily I had an ultrasound the next day and saw my baby heartbeat at 178bpm 😍set me straight ever since (currently 10wks and 1 day prego🤗) now whenever I think of it, smell it, or feel stressed I turn to water, tangerines (peeling them gives me the feeling I need to do something with my hands) chew gum or blow pops. It's hard but its worth it, having that scare was enough for me to change. Take it easy it will get better 😊😉 and Congratulations to your new blessing as well!
